Alliances, peace and betrayal

Alliances

An alliance stops both players from attacking each other. Allies can send each other troops and gold and share their railways.

  • Ask for an alliance from the player panel or the handshake of the radial menu (key K).
  • A request expires if the other player does not answer within 20 seconds. After a request, wait 30 seconds before asking the same player again.
  • An alliance lasts 5 minutes by default. It can be renewed: the game offers an extension before it ends.
  • In Nations mode, an alliance with a neighbouring country lasts 50% longer.
  • The handshake icon marks your allies; the player panel shows the time left.
  • You can target a player (key N): all your allies see the mark, to plan a joint attack.

Peace treaty

A light alternative to an alliance, only between two players at war.

  • You are at war when an attack between you is under way, or when one of you took land from the other or fired a missile at them within the last 2 minutes.
  • Offer peace with the white flag. A proposal expires after 15 seconds; after a refusal, wait 60 seconds before proposing again.
  • Once signed, neither player can attack the other for 3 minutes (1 minute in Survival mode), and attacks in progress stop.
  • You are not allies: no donations or shared railways.

Betrayal

Breaking an alliance

You can break an alliance (key L). You then become a traitor for 30 seconds: an icon (broken shield) above your name, half your defence, and trade with the former ally stops for 5 minutes. Other players may trust you less.

Attacking a traitor does not make you a traitor.

Breaking peace (perjury)

Breaking a peace treaty is perjury: traitor mark, defence penalty, an announcement to every player, and no more peace proposals to the victim for 10 minutes.

Embargo and trade

You can stop trading with a player (or with everyone) from their panel, and resume it. Trade resumes when both of you allow it. A temporary 5-minute embargo applies when an alliance is broken or when you fight.

Donations

Between allies (and teammates), you can give gold or troops from the radial menu or the player panel.
